The Holi season is upon us and we all know how colorful this festival can be.
जैसा कि हम सभी जानते हैं, होली पर हम सभी रंगों कि खूबसूरती को celebrate करते हैं।
Come to think of it, colors play a verycrucial part in our lives. They make everything look vibrant and alive.
जिस तरह से रंग हमारी आस पास कि हर चीज़ को सजा देते हैं, ठीक उसी तरह रंग हमारी भाषा औरcommunication skills को और भी बेहतर व interestingबना सकते हैं।

OFF COLOR
Offensive jokes or remarks ( आपत्तिजनक चुटकुले या टिप्पणी )
• I don’t like her because she always gives off-color comments about people.
• मैं उसे पसंद नहीं करता क्योंकि वह हमेशा लोगों के बारे में आपत्तिजनक टिप्पणियां करती है।

FALSE COLORS
Hypocrisy or misrepresentation/ to disguise one’s true nature or intentions ( ढोंग/ गलत बयानी/किसी के सच्ची प्रकृति या इरादों को छिपाना )
• Sam was sailing underfalse colors – he nevertold her that hewas already married.
• सैम उसे धोखा दे रहा था।उसने कभी नहीं बताया कि वह पहले से ही विवाहित है।

NAIL (ONE’s) COLORS TO THE MAST
To publicly state youropinions about a subject ( सार्वजनिक रूप से खुलकर अपनी राय बताना )
• I don’t know what would be his next step. He never nails his colors to the mast.
• मुझे नहीं पता कि उसका अगला कदम क्या होगा।वह कभी अपनी योजनाओं का खुलासा नहीं करता।

FEAR NO COLORS
To be brave in adangerous situation ( एक खतरनाक स्थिति में बहादुरी दिखाना )
• He handled the whole situation as if he feared no colors.
• उसने पूरी स्थिति को ऐसे संभाला जैसे कि वह बहुत बहादुर व निडर हो।

Something that is totally different from what you had expected ( कुछ ऐसा जो आपके द्वारा की गई अपेक्षा से पूरी तरह अलग हो )

To succeed immensely in doing something ( किसी काम को करने में अपार सफलता प्राप्त होना )
• I knew from the beginning that you’ll pass the test and come out with flying colors.
• मैं शुरुआत से जानता था कि आप अच्छे अंक के साथ परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण करेंगे।

SHOW TRUE COLORS
To reveal one’s true nature ( किसी की असलियत सामने आ जाना )
• When I got into trouble, my so called best friend left me alone and that showed me her true colors.
• जब मै परेशानी में पड़ा तब मेरे सबसे करीबी दोस्त ने मेरा साथ छोड़ दिया और उसकी असलियत मेरे सामने आ गई ।

COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES
When someone does not act according to the norms and conform rules ( जब कोई सामाजिक नियमो या प्रथाओं के हिसाब से काम नहीं करे )
• Amy is a free-spirited girl and she likes to color outside the lines.
• Amy एक स्वतंत्र व उत्साहित लड़की है जो समाज के नियमो की फ़िक्र नहीं करती।

GIVE COLOR TO (SOMETHING)
To make something better and interesting ( किसी चीज़ को बेहतर व दिलचस्प बनाना )
• Idioms and phrases always give color to any language.
• मुहावरे और वाक्यांश हमेशा किसी भी भाषा को रंगीन व दिलचस्प बना देते हैं।

To make sure that someone can pay back for something before letting them have it ( किसी को कुछ देने से पहले यह सुनिश्चित करना की वह उस चीज़ के लिए पैसे दे सकता है या नही )
• I want to see the color of his money before I sell him the car.
