We all learned thevarious meanings and uses of the word PARTNER in our last blog (CLICK HERE to read it) and now we’ll put that knowledge to good use and learn some ‘Partner Idioms and Phrases‘
Idioms और phrases की जानकारी न सिर्फ आपकी knowledge को बढ़ाती है, बल्कि आपको किसी भी भाषा मेंfluently और effectiveतरीके से बात करने में मदद करती है।
साथ ही साथ idioms और phrases के इस्तेमाल से आप कम से कम शब्दों में अपनी बात को रोचक ढंग से listener तक पहुंचा सकते हैं।
And that’s why, if you are a keen English learner then idioms and phrases should be a part of your vocab.
Today, let’s decorate our vocabulary with some ‘Partner Idioms and Phrases‘
SILENT / SLEEPING PARTNER
Meaning: निष्क्रिय साझेदार/ मूक भागीदार यानी एक ऐसा साझेदार जो व्यवसाय की व्यवस्था में किसी प्रकार का हस्तक्षेप नहीं करता।
A silent or sleeping partner (in a company) is someone who isassociated with the business through financial investments and shares the risks andrewards of it but, does not take an active part in the managementand daily operations.
• Over a three-year period, he recruitedsilent partnersthrough newspaper adverts, promising to pay them ‘substantial returns’.
• तीन साल की अवधि के दौरान उसने अख़बार के विज्ञापनों के माध्यम से, ‘पर्याप्त रिटर्न’ का भुगतान करने का वादा करते हुए, निष्क्रिय साझेदारों को भर्ती किया।
SPARRING PARTNER
Meaning:
♦ मुक्केबाजी का साथी
Someone who helps a boxer to train for a fight by taking the part of anopponent.
• Mike Tyson’s formersparring partner, Joe Egan, will also accompany him to New York.
• Mike Tyson के पूर्व मुक्केबाज़ी के साथी, Joe Egan भी उनके साथ न्यूयॉर्क आएंगे।
♦ जिसके साथ आप मित्रतापूर्ण बहस कर सकें।
Someone with whom you have friendlyarguments, (especially in politics).
• When it comes to being a good sparring partner, David is the best.
• जब बात आती है एक अच्छे sparring partner बनने की, तो David सबसे बेहतर है।
PARTNERS IN CRIME
Meaning:
♦ अपराध में भागीदार।
A person whocooperates incommitting a crime or adeception is considered as your partner in crime.
• When it comes to tax scams, I think all the businessmen and govt. officials becomepartners in crime.
• जब भी tax घोटालों की बात आती है, तो मुझे लगता है कि सभी बड़े व्यवसायी और सरकारी अधिकारी अपराध में भागीदार बन जाते हैं।
♦ हास्यरूप से कहा जाए तो इसका अर्थ है ऐसा व्यक्ति जो आपके हर काम में आपका साथी हो यानी पक्का जोड़ीदार।
Someone who is one of a pair of people or things often associated or seen together OR good friends who get in trouble together.
• My younger sister is my perfect partner in crime.
• मेरी छोटी बहन मेरी सबसे अच्छी और पक्की जोड़ीदार है।
PARTNERSHIP AT WILL
Meaning: इच्छानुसार/इच्छाधीन भागीदारी
It’s a partnership with no fixed term.
It can (as the name suggests) be terminated by any of the two or more partners giving notice of termination.
• Kunal is having apartnership at will in my company.
• कुणाल के पास मेरी कंपनी में इच्छाधीन भागीदारी है।
TO PARTNER UP (with someone)
Meaning: जोड़ी बनाना
To arrange things or people in groups of two i.e. to form pairs.
• Please partner upwith another student before starting the game.
• खेल शुरू करने से पहले कृपया किसी अन्य छात्र के साथ जोड़ी बना लें।
