We all had recently said our goodbyes to the year 2016 and welcomed 2017 with great merriment and triumph (उत्सव और खुशी)

जब बात चलती है new year की तो हमारे मन में आती है कुछ नया करने की जिज्ञासा और कुछ नया सीखने की इच्छा।

This time of the year is filled with curiosity about everything new happening around us.

और जब बात है कुछ नया सीखने की तो क्यूँ ना एक नज़र डाली जाए 2016 में प्रचलित रहे कुछ ऐसे शब्दों पर जिनकी लोकप्रियता ने उन्हें जगह दिलाई OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY द्वारा जारी की गई NEW WORDS OF 2016 की list (सूची) में।

Although this list includes hundreds of new words but some of them stand out because of their uniqueness( विशिष्टता ), for example….

ADORBS ( अडौरब्स )
यह एक short form है ADORABLE शब्द की जिसका अर्थ है बहुत ही आकर्षक व प्यारा (cute).

My sister’s newborn daughter is so adorbs.
(मेरी बहन की नवजात बेटी बहुत प्यारी है।)The Christmas decorations at the ‘coffee house’ were totally adorbs.
( ‘Coffee house’ पर क्रिस्मस की सजावट बहुत आकर्षक थी।)

AMAZEBALLS (अमेज़-बौल्स)
यह एक informal expression का शब्द है जिसका अर्थ है impressive (प्रभावशाली) या Enjoyable (ख़ुशगवार). it’s used as a trendy substitution for the word AMAZING.

The view of the ocean from my hotel room is just AMAZEBALLS!
(मेरे hotel के कमरे से स्मुन्द्र का नज़ारा बहुत ही अद्भुत है। )My younger brother threw an amazeballs surprise party on my 21st birthday.
(मेरे छोटे भाई ने मेरे 21वें जन्म्दिन पर एक शानदार surprise party दी।)

GLAMMA (ग्लैम्मा)
Glamorous+Grandma = GlamMa
इस शब्द का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है एक ऐसी दादी मां यानी grandma के लिये जो कि बहुत ही modern और fashionable हो .
In fact, any lady who is utterly fashion-conscious can be called as a glamMa.

Even at this age, my grandmother is so fashion-conscious that she deserves to be called a GLAM-MA.
(इस उम्र में भी, मेरी दादी फैशन के प्रति इतनी सजग है कि वह एक GLAM-MA कहलाने की हकदार है।)My sister puts on so much makeup on her face that we all have given her the title of “GlamMa”.
(मेरी बहन अपने चेहरे पर इतना ज़्यादा मेकअप लगाती है कि हम सबने उसे ‘Glamma “का खिताब दिया है।)

CLICKBAIT (क्लिक- बेट)
ऐसी इंटरनेट सामग्री जिसका मुख्य उद्देश्य है ध्यान आकर्षित करना और एक विशेष web page के लिए visitors को अपनी ओर खींचना ।

All these controversial news about famous celebrities and their personal lives on the internet is nothing but just a click-bait.
(इन्टरनेैट पर मशहूर हस्तियों और उनके निजी जीवन के बारे में सभी विवादास्पद खबरें सिर्फ एक click-bait हैं और कुछ भी नहीं है।)These days, all business tactics are far from being genuine and more of a clickbait nature.
(इन दिनों, सभी व्यावसायिक रणनीतियाँ वास्तविकता से दूर और clickbait प्रकृति के ज़्यादा करीब हैं । )

BINGE-WATCH (बिंज- वॉच)
ऐक television प्रोग्राम के कई एपिसोड लगातार देखना।

Thanks to Jio’s unlimited data, we can now binge-watch our favorite shows, one after the other.
( Jio के असीमित इन्टरनेैट डेटा की वजह से अब हम अपने पसंदीदा शो एक के बाद एक, लगातार देख सकते हैं। )

Y.O.L.O. (योलो)
इसका full form है “You Only Live Once”
यह express करता है ज़िंदगी जीने का बिंदास और बेफ़िक्र अन्दाज़

Those who follow the motto of Y.O.L.O, they always lead a happy and content life.
(जो लोग हमेशा Yolo केसिद्धांत का पालन करते हैं, वे हमेशा एक सुखी और संतुष्टजीवन व्यतीत करते हैं)The YOLO mentality has made young adults much more impulsive than ever.
(YOLO मानसिकता ने युवा वयस्कों को पहले से कहीं अधिक आवेगी बना दिया है।)

BREXIT (ब्रैक्सिट)
यूरोपीय संघ ( European union) से United Kingdom (U.K.) के अलग हो जाने के लिए इस्तेमाल किया गया एक popular political शब्द।

it was estimated that Brexit would reduce the European Union’s potential GDP.
(यह अनुमान लगाया गया था कि Brexit के कारण यूरोपीय संघ के सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (GDP)में संभावित कमी आएगी। ) The year 2016 witnessed the event of Brexit, one of the biggest economic fall-out of our times
(वर्ष 2016 गवाह है Brexit की घटना का जो कि हमारे समय का सबसे बड़ा आर्थिक विवाद है। )

YOGALATES (योगालाटीज़)
एक अनोखी फिटनेस दिनचर्या (routine) जिसमे pilates (पिलाटीज़) के साथ-साथ योगासन (yoga postures) और योग की सांस लेने की तकनीक का अभ्यास किया जाता है।

Yogalates is a new popular trend in the fitness world.
(इन दिनों योगालाटीज़ फिटनेस की दुनिया में एक नई लोकप्रिय प्रवृत्ति है। )Doing regular Yogalates can help protect from osteoporosis.
( नियमित Yogalates करने से osteoporosis (हड्डियों की कमजोरी) से बचने में मदद मिलती है।)

FLEEK (फ्लीक)
अत्यंत अच्छा, आकर्षक, या स्टाइलिश।

Your dress looks sofleek.
(आपकी पोशाक बहुत अच्छी लग रही है। )In last night’s concert, the music was on fleek.
(कल रात के concert (संगीत कार्यक्रम) में music जबरदस्त था। )

And finally the “WORD OF THE YEAR” (2016)
( according to Oxford English Dictionary)

POST- TRUTH (पोस्ट ट्रुथ)
इस शब्द का relation ऐसी political or non-political परिस्थितियों से है जिनमें जनता की राय को आकार देने के लिए उद्देश्यात्मक तथ्य (objective facts), जनता भावना और व्यक्तिगत विश्वास की तुलना में, कम प्रभावशाली साबित होते हैं।

Indian voters are deeply influenced by the ‘post-truth politics’
(भारतीय मतदाताओं पर post-truth राजनीती का गहरा प्रभाव है। )in this era of post-truth politics, the common man has the real power.
(Post-truth राजनीति के इस युग में, आम आदमी के पास वास्तविक शक्ति है।)
